Online Music Sequencer

Write melodies and patterns on a piano-roll grid: click to place notes, drag to shape them, choose a sound and press play — your pattern loops with sample-accurate timing, all in your browser.

How to Use the Sequencer

1

Place Notes

Click any empty cell to drop a note there — keep dragging right and the note stretches as you go. Rows are pitches (C3 at the bottom to C5 on top), columns are sixteenth notes across four bars.

2

Shape the Pattern

Drag a note anywhere to move it in pitch or time; drag its right edge to change its length; click it once to delete. Every note you touch is previewed instantly so you can write by ear.

3

Press Play

Hit Play and the orange playhead sweeps the grid while your pattern loops. Pick from seven piano timbres, set the tempo from 50 to 220 BPM, or load a demo pattern to see how a melody lays out.

A Sequencer Built on the Site's Synth

Playback is scheduled on the Web Audio clock with a lookahead loop rather than timers, so notes land sample-accurately even when the browser tab is busy. Every sound is generated by the same local synthesis engine as our online piano — seven timbres from a full concert grand to a detuned honky-tonk — and nothing you write ever leaves your device.

The grid covers four bars of sixteenth notes over a two-octave range, the sweet spot for melodies, bass lines and arpeggios. Try entering a chord as a vertical stack of notes, then a melody above it, and let it loop while you tweak.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is an online music sequencer?

A sequencer is a tool for writing music as notes placed on a timeline. This one shows a piano-roll grid — rows are pitches, columns are sixteenth-note steps — where you click to add notes, drag them around, resize their lengths and press play to hear the pattern loop. It works like a simplified digital audio workstation, entirely in your browser.

Is this music sequencer free?

Yes. It is completely free, requires no registration and installs nothing. All sound is synthesized locally on your device.

How do I edit notes in the sequencer?

Click an empty cell to place a note and keep dragging right to lengthen it. Drag a note to move it in pitch or time, drag its right edge to resize, and click a note once to delete it.

Can I change the sound and tempo?

Yes. Seven timbres are available — concert grand, warmer and brighter grands, mellow, bright and honky-tonk — and the tempo adjusts from 50 to 220 BPM. Changes apply on the next loop.

Can I export my sequence?

Yes, two ways. Export MIDI downloads a standard .mid file that opens directly in any DAW — FL Studio, Logic, Cubase, Ableton — where you can re-voice it with your own instruments. Export WAV renders one loop of your pattern through the same local synthesis into an audio file, ready to share or use in a video.
